The Maryland Department of Information Technology (DoIT) in partnership with the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) has selected SLI Global Solutions to provide Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) services for the Unemployment Insurance Modernization (UIM) Project. The UIM Project is an innovative multi-state effort made up of Vermont, Maryland, and West Virginia – known as the VMW Consortium. The goal of this project is to replace the three aging legacy UI systems supporting these states with a modern core UI system processing benefits, tax, and appeals. Using a consortium approach to developing new UI systems has been gaining traction as states and the US Department of Labor look to reduce expenditures by developing core systems that are used by multiple states rather than funding unique systems for every state in the nation.
