SILVER SPRING, MD (September 29, 2017) – A new milestone was achieved recently when SLI Global Solution’s (SLI) efforts to bring its Quality Management System (QMS) forward to the most current standard successfully passed an outside audit by Orion Registrar. This audit found that SLI’s QMS is now in compliance with the most recent ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. Achieving this key milestone is important as it demonstrates continued willingness to meaningfully invest in a formal QMS so that it remains a vital part of how SLI does business and delivers value.
Early on, SLI recognized that providing superior client service was mandatory for the success of the company. SLI knows that the company is judged by its ability to deliver value every day by all SLI team members. To meet this expectation, SLI is committed to the development of a QMS that forms the foundation of delivering quality company wide. To ensure relevance and continuous improvement in the QMS, a Corporate Quality Improvement Team (CQIT) was formed to measure the QMS' effectiveness and make needed changes as experience was gained and lessons were learned. A major step was taken seven years ago when the SLI QMS was certified to be in conformance with the ISO 9001:2008 quality standard.
The 2015 version has a more strategic emphasis on the identification of risks and the management of these within the context of the organization. Company leaders have specific responsibilities as well. They:
Are accountable for the effectiveness of the QMS (an auditor may ask for the process for holding leaders accountable)
Ensure the quality policy and quality objectives are compatible with the context and strategic direction of the organization
Communicate the importance of effective quality management and conforming to requirements and support other management roles
Ensure the processes are delivering their intended outputs for both internal/company work products and client services
Other changes include language for a safe and secure work environment (physical, social and psychological factors) and the measurement and selection of outside suppliers/partners, among others.
